Welcome to East Road
East Road is a BR Blue inspired O Gauge/7mm layout. I have taken inspiration from my many memories of travelling the network during the late 1970’s and the 1980’s. It is a Scottish themed layout that includes many elements from the likes of Inverness, Haymarket, Eastfield, Grangemouth, Dundee and Fort William.

It is modelled during the TOPS era, specifically the years 1974 – 1987. This allows me to vary my stock to cater for the TOPS period allowing the transition from the Class 24/25 locomotives to Class 26/27 locomotives and then to the Class 37/0 and 37/4’s locomotives between Glasgow, Edinburgh and the Far North lines of the network. Other classes of locomotive will feature in the future including, Class 20’s, Class 40’s, Class 47’s and Class 55 ‘Deltic’.
By design, East Road is a fictitious layout but the name is taken from East Road in Cupar, Fife. It’s function is to provide light maintenance and refuelling for locomotives. Whereas Glasgow is served by Eastfield and Edinburgh is served by Haymarket, East Road is strategically positioned between them and the Stirling area, providing service and fuelling facilities, without the need to travel back to both of the main city depots.

The build of East Road was completed in the Summer of 2024 and appeared at NEOG in September and the SVR O Gauge get together in October of the same year. In July 2025, East Road appeared at the Cupar show and is to appear at GETS 2025 and the Falkirk show in November. It is also scheduled to feature in the Hornby magazine in 2025.
